For any operation that buys raw materials in bulk — cement, sand, aggregates, steel of every size — the weighbridge is where the money story begins. Yet in most plants that data lives in a silo: printed tickets, spreadsheets, or a standalone system that never talks to the ERP. The cost of that gap shows up later as inaccurate job costing and budget overruns nobody saw coming.
At Arsenal IT Consultants, we closed that gap by integrating the Mr Weigh weighbridge solution with Odoo 17 Community through a direct API connection.
The problem we set out to solve
Bulk materials are heavy, high-volume and high-value. When intake weights are recorded manually or held outside the ERP, three things happen: job costing is based on estimates rather than actuals, procurement and production work off different numbers, and variances between what was budgeted and what was actually consumed only surface at month-end — too late to correct.
What we built
We connected Mr Weigh to Odoo 17 Community via API so that every measurement taken at the bridge flows automatically into Odoo. Each weighment is captured accurately at the point of intake and mapped to the right material, supplier and job — with no manual re-keying.
From there, Odoo does the heavy lifting:
- Job-wise BOM costing — real intake weights feed the Bill of Materials, so every job is costed on what was actually delivered and consumed, not on assumptions.
- Budget vs actual, end to end — the same data drives comparison across the whole flow, from purchase order right through to production, so overruns are visible as they happen.
- One source of truth — procurement, stores and production all see the same figures in real time.
Why it matters
The payoff is control. Accurate weights in means accurate costs out. Teams can catch a cost overrun while there is still time to do something about it, price future jobs with confidence, and trust that the numbers in Odoo reflect what actually crossed the weighbridge.
